An in-depth discussion is necessary to understand the features, advantages and disadvantages of them.
Roof Prism:
It is a particular type of prism that is mostly used in optical instruments. In this design prisms are in alignment with each other. The binoculars in this prism appear to be smoother and compact than Porro prism. Binoculars with Roof prism are very easy to identify because the large object lenses are lining up with eyepieces in a straight line. Roof prism binoculars are good for hunting and watching bird. Though it has many useful aspects but it also has some pros and cons:
Pros:
  • Because of less internal part it is less complicated
  • Dust and waterproof
  • Precise design and compact
Cons:
  • As the prisms are aligned image quality slightly falls
  • Price ranges are high

Porro Prism:

Swarovski binocular with porro prism is also easily identifiable, because the objective lenses are not aligned with the eyepieces. With the objective line ocular lenses not aligned, this type of binocular is an ideal for bird watching, wildlife, sporting and other activities.
Pros:
Unlike Roof prism, in Porro prism the space between objectives lenses is wider. It produces good quality stereoscopic images. This type of binocular with Roof prism is less expensive than porro prism.
Cons:
Porro prisms are not fully water and dust proof and its design is lesser in compactness than the roof prisms. Porro prisms binoculars are less expensive than the roof prism binoculars.
Different types of Swarovski binoculars are there for different purposes. Each model differ in functions and features based on the use. There are binoculars for every need such as astronomy, sports, marine, bird watching, hunting and even for the golfers too.
